From the Desk of Pastor Mason

Grace and Peace to you, Members and Friends of St. James,

Over the weekend there was an assassination attempt against Former President and current Presidential Candidate Trump. As Christians we condemn all kinds of violence, including political violence. This attack is a tragic consequence of our deeply divided political environment, which endangered the life of Former President Trump, led to at least two other deaths, and left others critically injured. In this time we must rededicate ourselves to Christ’s calling of peace and nonviolence, and remember that despite any division we might feel, indeed, in spite of the division that our world sometimes insists on, we are all one, united in Christ. Let us come together and pray for peace, unity, and a speedy recovery for those wounded in this terrible attack.

Let us pray,

Mighty God of all creation, you are the source of all peace and love. Extinguish our desire violence, and curb our impulses to divide and destroy. Grant that we might see all people, no matter how the world tries to divide us, as our beloved siblings, and your precious creations. We pray for healing for Former President Trump, and all who were wounded in Saturday’s attack. Bring comfort and consolation for all of those who lost a loved one in the attack and ensuing violence. Make us one in you, Holy God, increase our love for each other, inspire compassion and hope, and put an end to violence of all kinds. Lead us into your peaceful Kingdom, in the name of Jesus Christ, our King, our Savior, we pray. Amen.
